    To: Arlene and Alan –

Your parents were a fixture of my life growing up, and probably my parents’ best friends. (Certainly your father and mine had a wonderful friendship.) Your mother’s death is bringing back many, many warm memories, of our parents sitting on my parents’ front porch in Bayside on warm summer nights, eating cherries that they bought from Ralph, the green grocer, with your father providing commentary — to everybody’s delight — about the “goysishe eggs” served at the Roscoe diner that was a required stop on the trip to Binghamton, — or “the block” playing cards (“tinkle?”) or the men commuting into the City or going to temple together. Lots of wonderful memories.

My condolences to you and your families. I hope you all are doing well.

    All the best,
    Fran (Hochbaum) Henig
