Paul S. Gillson

Gillson, Paul S., 83, retired owner of Mt. Pleasant Hardware in Providence died Monday, May 16, 2016 peacefully at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Elman) Gillson. Born in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Morris and Henrietta (Goldman) Gillson, he was a graduate of Boston University. Paul and his late wife were former members of Valley CC, West Warwick and East Point CC, Palm Beach Gardens. In addition to golf Paul enjoyed skiing, flying small planes and motorcycles.  In his retirement he enjoyed reading and his cherished companion, his dog Lily.  Devoted father of Marc Gillson and his wife, Antoinette Gomes, of Cranston, Erica Rossman and her husband, Dr. Richard Rossman, of Sharon, MA, and Lisa Rubinstein and her husband, David, of Newton, MA.  Dear brother of George Gillson of Brooklyn, NY, Bryna Hellmann of Amsterdam, and Jan Bentley of London.  Loving grandfather of Marshall, Geoffrey, Dana, Jessica, Corey, Rachel, and Sydney.  Cherished great grandfather of Marcus.  Graveside services will be held Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in LINCOLN PARK CEMETERY, 1469 Post Road, Warwick.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906.  Shiva will be private.

    I was so sorry to read about Paul’s death. I have very fond memories of your parents..

    Marc & Toni and Gillson family, sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul when my mother Caroline was a patient at Elmhurst; very nice man.

    Paul, it is hard to believe you’re gone. Although you’re not here physically, you’ll always hold a special place in my heart. Wednesday’s and Sunday mornings won’t be the same without our dinners and breakfasts with Crackers and Lily.
    We. never had the chance to say goodbye. What I would do to hear one more joke. RIP dear friend
