Nahigian, Roberta Cohn, 63, died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Eleanor Slater Hospital, Cranston. Wife of the late Ralph Nahigian. Born in Providence, daughter of Shirley E. Cohn of Warwick and the late Jerry Cohn. Roberta was a graduate of Cranston West High School and attended college in Boston. Prior to her illness, she was an area manager for Princess House in California. Besides her mother, she is survived by her sister, Susan (Edward) Sweeney of Wakefield and a brother, Larry (Mary) Cohn, of Menlo Park, CA, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Upon her return to RI, she was an active participant and recognized artist by the United Cerebral Palsy Adaptive Arts Program. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Roberta’s memory to the United Cerebral Palsy Adaptive Arts Program, 200 Main St., Suite 210, Pawtucket, RI 02860. A memorial services will be held at SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston, Monday at 11:00 a.m. Shiva will be private.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rob over 13 years ago. I was her art teacher and she became my dear friend. She used a mobile arm support which was set up on her wheel chair and strapped onto her right arm. It allowed her to move her arm backward and forward so she could paint. Before long her talents and story were recognized and she was asked to be featured on the first UCP National Campaign. She was also one of the most decorated artists of our Adaptive Arts Program. Rob was fearless and never let her disability stop her. She was a role model for all. She will surely be missed. My condolences to Rob’s family that I got to know and love.
Robby touched so many people and set an example of faith and determination! God Bless her and our family. So PROUD to call her my AUNT.

Her positive spirit and wonderful attitude were inspirational to us and a wonderful model for our children, Nate and Molly, when we visited her during our vacations on the Rhode Island shore. So sorry to hear of your loss. She was not only a patient of mine for a number of years but a friend as well. As a caregiver of hers, there was no request I would not do for her to assist her in activities of daily life and always with a smile on my face because It made her happy. My thoughts are with her family.

I went to Chamberlayne Jr College in Boston with Roberta.Been looking for her for years.I finally found this.I am so very sorry to hear this.I also knew Ralph.They were at my wedding in Baltimore in 1974.I have many pictures of her and I. I would appreciate any correspondence from a family member. Armee45@aol.com
I did not know Roberta but was sent a note card with her art work “Pink Eye Poppers”. Intrigued by the lovely flowers, I turned the card over to read her painting was created through the Adaptive Arts Program of UCP Rhode Island. I am sorry she has passed but wanted you to know how touched I was by her life and the beauty she expressed.
