Gerald “Jerry” Coken

Coken, Gerald “Jerry”, 85, of 28 Rising Ridge Rd., Campton, NH, formerly of Cranston, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Lebanon, NH.  He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Pokras) Coken.  They were married for 59 years.  Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Irving and Sylvia (Barasch) Coken.  Jerry was a graduate of Hope High School, Class of 1948 and Roger Williams University, Class of 1950.  He was an Air National Guard Veteran of the Korean War, serving in Tripoli, Libya with the 102nd AC & W Squadron from 1952-1954.  He was the Vice President and Treasurer of Coken Co., Providence for 30 years, retiring in 1983 and was a charter boat captain for 15 years.  He was a member of Touro Fraternal Association, Temple Sinai and its Men’s Club, and Overseas Lodge of the Masons and Potowomut Country Club.  He was a past president of the RI Chapter of N.E.C.A. Jerry was an avid skier and golfer. Devoted father of Lawrence Coken and his wife Cynthia of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jane Ryan and her husband Christopher of Spencer, MA and Stacey Burns and her husband Thomas of Duxbury, MA.  He was the brother of Myron Coken of Cranston. Loving grandfather of Samantha, Tyler, Cierra, Ryan, Jackson and Meagan.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to your favorite charity.  Visiting hours will be observed at 28 Rising Ridge Rd., Campton, NH on Tuesday, 1-5 p.m.

    Dear Larry, Jane, Stacey,

    I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I have many fond memories of him and they those memories will live on with us for many years to come.

    I appologise for not being able to attend Monday’s service as I will be out of town.

    Though it has been a long time, I remember your dad warmly. He was kind and generous to me; I remember the good time you all shared with me up at your new home (then) in New Hamphsire. Larry, I am sorry for loss.
