Mary Port Zisserson

Dateline: Warwick

Zisserson, Mary Port. 100 years old, died on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Tamarisk. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Sadie (Chorney) Port and the wife of the late Sidney Zisserson. Mary is survived by her children, Shayna Pitt (Bruce) of Pittsburg, PA, Joel Zisserson (Francis) of Cranston, RI, and Paul Zisserson (Leah) of Lake Frederick, VA. She was the sister of Ira Port and the late Esther Goldman, Anne Leventhal and Leonard Port. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary was the quintessential woman of her generation: intensely devoted to husband, children and relatives which made her circle of family and friends paramount in her life. She was always proud to declare herself “modern” in her ability to adapt to the changes that occur over a lifetime of a century. This past June, Mary celebrated her 100th birthday at a wonderful party attended by her many loving relatives and friends. Their devotion to and love for her was a way that they could reciprocate the years of love and devotion she had for them. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay St., Providence, RI 02905. Funeral service and shiva are private.

Mary was our neighbor in Cranston for over 40 years. She was a fine woman and loved her family. I always sought her out when I visited my mother Bella Foster at Tamarisk.

My deepest sympathy to the Zisserson Family
